Dravyaguna Vigyan is a branch of Ayurveda that studies the properties, impact, and action of drugs, and is fundamental to understanding the efficacy of Ayurvedic medicine.
It includes the study of drugs used to treat diseases or keep people healthy, and covers topics such as:
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics: The study of rasa, guna virya, vipaka, and prabhava
Identification, collection, storage, and preservation: Of plant-based raw materials
Herbal medicine: Including Guduchi, Neem, Vasa, and Tulsi
Metallic compounds and animal origin substances: Such as Kasturi and Gorochan.
